'80s Metal History (November 20th)

November 20, 1990: Shortly after the band's first breakup, Accept released double live album "Staying A Life" in North America (December 1990 as an import in the UK). Recorded in Japan in 1985, live video footage from the "Metal Heart" Tour was also issued on VHS. "This just goes to prove that, on their day, Accept were a bloody great Metal band." -Kerrang! - December 1990.

The successful title track was a tough act to follow, but Mötley Crüe served up another smash with "Kickstart My Heart" (the phrase literally refers to the near-fatal heroin overdose of Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx in 1987, when paramedics gave him two adrenaline shots directly to his heart to revive him), the second single from the "Dr. Feelgood" album. The music video was added at MTV the week of November 18, 1989.
November 20, 1981: "There's more than bluebirds 'Over The Mountain'", the second single from Ozzy Osbourne's "Diary Of A Madman" LP was issued in the UK. "There's a riff in Randy's solo that he lifted from the song 'Black Sabbath'. I don't think that Randy ever realized it until I pointed it out to him later." -Ozzy

November 20, 1981: Thin Lizzy released their 11th studio album "Renegade" in the UK (Early 1982 in North America). Keyboard player Darren Wharton was now a permanent member of the band and contributed writing opening track "Angel Of Death". Celebrating her successful UK tour, Lita Ford threw a party in London inviting Motörhead and Girlschool. These photos from the November 1983 issue of Kerrang! are gold.
November 20, 1986: With new bassist Jason Newsted, Metallica concluded their first tour of Japan at Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo. Next up for the "Damage, Inc." Tour was a return to North America starting in Providence on the 26th.
Növember 20, 1984: "Mëtal Över Amerïca" with Motörhead, Exciter and Mercyful Fate blasted the Warfield Thëatre in San Francisco.
November 20, 1980: With their new album "Strong Arm Of The Law" in record shops since the 7th, Saxon hit the road in the UK to promote it, starting with Cornwall Coliseum in St. Austell, England.
November 20, 1982: KISS' 10th studio album "Creatures Of The Night" debuted at No. 155 on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. Single "I Love It Loud" was most requested at rock radio and big sales of the LP made it a Top 50 record.
November 20, 2021: The original mask from Quiet Riot's "Metal Health" album sold for $50,000, which was six times the asking price at Julien's "Icons & Idols: Rock N' Roll" Auction in New York City.
