'80s Metal History (November 19th)

November 19, 1982: Performing all Black Sabbath songs with his solo band at The Ritz in New York City, Ozzy Osbourne released live album "Talk Of The Devil" in the UK. Three days later it was issued in North America as "Speak Of The Devil". The album was originally planned to be a tribute to Randy Rhoads, but a dispute with the record label led to that project being shelved until 1987.

November 1981: Saxon released their fourth studio album "Denim And Leather" in North America (September '81 in the UK) featuring singles "And The Bands Played On", "Never Surrender" and "Princess Of The Night". November 1987: Kerrang! reported that Anthrax were robbed after just arriving in Liverpool in late October with musical equipment stolen and Scott Ian's bermuda shorts... About £10,000 worth of stuff. No word if they got it back.
November 1983: With a UK tour opening for Judas Priest starting in December, Quiet Riot released "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" as the second single from their debut album in the UK (Late December '83 in North America). Release information source: Kerrang! ad - November 17, 1983.
November 19, 1984: After 144 shows in 12 countries, including their first appearance at "Monsters Of Rock" in Donington Park, Mötley Crüe concluded the "Shout At The Devil" tour with an intimate gig at the Dominion Theatre in London. -Kerrang!
November 19, 1983: With "Midnight In Tokyo" from the "Mean Streak" album issued as a single, San Francisco rockers Y&T launched a UK tour in Hanley, co-headlining with Rock Goddess.
November 19, 1983: Canadian music-industry publication RPM reported that Capitol Records had rush-released a promotional-only 12" single of Iron Maiden's Jethro Tull cover of "Cross-Eyed Mary". "Not available on the band's latest LP 'Piece Of Mind', (the song) was released based on the response generated in the UK. Recorded as the B-Side of the single "The Trooper", when it was first released in North America, "a different B-Side was mysteriously selected."

November 1988: Kerrang! reported that Triumph guitarist and singer Rik Emmett left the band to pursue a solo career.
November 19, 1989: Black Sabbath became the latest Western rockers to perform in Russia with 10 shows in Moscow and 10 and Leningrad.
