'80s Metal History (November 10th)
Mötley Crüe released 900 copies of their debut album "Too Fast For Love" on their own Leathür Records label in 1981. After signing with major label Elektra the following year, the LP was remixed and reissued in August 1982.
November 10, 1983: The album was delayed until the end of the month because Ozzy Osbourne wanted it remixed, but the Prince of Darkness still launched the "Bark At The Moon" Tour in Leicester, England with Carmine Appice on drums. Kerrang! review - December 1, 1983
With the success of Metallica's "Garage Days Re-Revisited", it was reported there were plans for a Metal Church EP "Dallas Days Revisited" to be released in November 1987, but that didn't happen, for another 10+ years! Recorded in 1986 by the original band at various locations with little documentation about their origin, "Metal Church Live" was issued in 1998. Only "Start The Fire" was previously released in the late '80s.
November 1982: With their latest album "Creatures Of The Night" just issued in North America, the track "I Love It Loud" was receiving some attention and the return to form well-received by American rock radio stations, surprised at the strong listener reaction. November 10, 1984: Over a month after the release of their debut album, Armored Saint were on the road in the Midwest opening for Quiet Riot and Whitesnake at the Chicago Pavillion.
November 10, 1987: Touring the UK, Anthrax and Testament played the Powerhouse in Birmingham. Kerrang! ad - October 31, 1987
November 10, 1991: Supporting their latest album "Psychotic Supper", Tesla were touring the UK and stopped for a show at the Hummingbird in Birmingham. Kerrang! ad - November 9, 1991
Queensrÿche released home music video "Building Empires" in 1992, featuring promo videos and live footage with commentaries from band members in between songs.
Remembering Manowar drummer Scott Columbus, who would have celebrated a birthday today (November 10, 1956). "Drums of Doom" died in 2011. R.I.P.
Formed in New York City in 1975, Riot released their debut album "Rock City" two years later. Support slots with AC/DC and Molly Hatchet followed.
November 10, 1975: Fronted by Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow performed their very first show at the Forum in Montreal. The tour was supposed to begin on Halloween in Flint, Michigan, but that date and four others that followed in Pennsylvania and Boston were postponed. The entire tour was a short one with just a handful of shows across North America.
