'80s Metal History (September 9th)
K-Tel released the compilation you may remember best, "Masters Of Metal" in 1984, featuring Black Sabbath, Y&T, Iron Maiden, Dokken, DIO, Krokus, Twisted Sister, and like the TV commercial proclaimed, "It will leave you screaming for more!" 🤘 There was also a "Masters Of Metal Volume 2", loaded up with more heavy tracks from many of the same bands on the first one, but also Accept, Anvil, Helix and more.
September 9, 1986: Iron Maiden were in Belgrade, Yugoslavia getting ready for the next day's launch of the "Somewhere In Time" Tour, their most ambitious to date with flying space ships, laser guns, and monumental Eddie appearance.
September 9, 1981: Just over four months after their first show, Mötley Crüe were paying their dues and building a following, opening for Euphoria at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood, California.

September 1989: From the new Alice Cooper album "Trash", lead single "Poison" was a Top 15 smash at American rock radio and now the push was on for Top 40, where it would rise even higher, peaking at No. 7 in November that year.
September 9, 1989: The music video for "Sleepless Nights" was being shown on MTV Headbangers Ball in the US and the latest album from King Diamond titled "Conspiracy", the second of two fictional concept LPs about King and his mentally ill grandmother ("Them" '88), was promoted with this full page ad in Billboard magazine.
September 9, 2022: Ozzy Osbourne released his 13th studio album "Patient Number 9" featuring singles the title track with late guitarist Jeff Beck, "Degradation Rules" with former Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi, and "Nothing Feels Right" with guitarist Zakk Wylde.
